"LEGO Star Wars: Build Your Own Adventure" is a book of ideas to supplement existing Star Wars sets. Obviously, there are many LEGO Star Wars sets specific to a certain character or scene in the films that can be purchased. But this book shows ideas for things related to Star Wars that can be built with common LEGOs not specific to any set.
Now, there are a lot of pictures, but there are no specific building instructions (other than one) - so the intent is more to spark your imagination and give examples of what is possible rather than show exact designs. Now you might think that there are limitations to what you can do with generic pieces; but in reality much more is possible than I had conceived - you are really only limited by your imagination. The ideas in this book will definitely supplement (but not entirely replace) the real Star Wars building sets that are available. I should also note that the book takes inspiration from the original trilogy locations, namely Tatooine, Hoth, Endor, and Cloud City. Nothing specific to the prequels or The Force Awakens is present.
The book does include a 73-piece LEGO set to get you started: a mini-figure of a new character named Zin Evalon, as well as his Rebel Y-Wing Starfighter. It's an easy 5-minute build to get you started if you happen to be new to LEGO construction. But you will need your own additional LEGOs if you are going to construct anything substantial.
Overall, it's a fun book for fans of LEGO and Star Wars. It is definitely geared toward kids and beginners; there's not much of value to the experienced builder.
